New version of the free software song

Hello everybody, at the CCC Camp last week we had great fun organizing and participating in our "free software song sing along-session", with lots of people. Some of them even had a guitar and we started making up new versions of the "free software song". We had some modern as well as rock versions and it got us the attention of the people around us. As this might be a fun and easy way to get into contact with new people, who could be interested in free software, it might be a good idea to have different versions of the "free software song". What do you think? This is the reason why we are looking for remixes of the free software song. The remixes do not need to be anything like the original, except for the text :) and of course they need to be licensed under a free license. So if you are a musician, maybe you could write a remix for the next event and we could promote it and sing it all together? Best wishes and looking forward to all the creative thoughts about this! REUSE 3.0 released: tutorial, FAQ, and helper tool

Hi all, Today, we released the official release of REUSE 3.0 which contains many exciting improvements. REUSE helps developers to declare copyright and licensing of their projects. The new version makes it easier than ever to follow the best practices for Free Software projects. https://reuse.software REUSE 3.0 is accompanied by a brand new tutorial and FAQ. The latest version of the REUSE helper tool will make it much easier for developers to get their repositories REUSE compliant, and can be included in numerous CI/CD workflows. The "rival" discussion mailing list

Hello, Subscribers to this mailing list have recently been introduced to the existence of a new "rival" mailing list [*] in a way that might well be regarded as being both ill-conceived and regrettable. There may be merits in conducting discussion on another list, but the apparent attempt to transfer subscribers to such a list without their agreement is counterproductive to put it mildly. It would obviously have been far more appropriate for Daniel to merely advertise that another discussion venue has been set up and for him to invite those who are interested to sign up for themselves. As far as I know, no such invitation message has been propagated by this mailing list, but I do wonder whether it might have been propagated had it been received. I sincerely hope that the different parties who are in apparent conflict in this and other matters are able to resolve their disagreements to an acceptable degree of satisfaction. Clearly, not all parties are under the impression that their past disputes have been settled and that all grievances have been acknowledged. Further escalation of this conflict is in nobody's best interest. I would also encourage the FSFE leadership to use venues like this list to more fully engage with the community, even when this involves encountering dissent. Doing so might help to prevent any further degradation in trust and confidence between the leadership and the community that has arguably precipitated this incident. Hola: Soy Ismael Olea. Tal vez me recuerdes de los tiempos de HispaLinux. He recuperado esta dirección de correo de mis viejos archivos personales y me tomo la libertad de escribirte. El motivo de mi carta es avisarte, si no estás ya al tanto, de que se ha reactivado una comunidad de miembros de nuestra añorada asociación HispaLinux, cuyo decline no le ha hecho justicia a la importancia que ganó en nuestras áreas de interés. Por eso nos hemos juntado a parte, básicamente en un grupo Telegram y va a materializarse en un encuentro físico, un congreso de comunidad para la comunidad al estilo de aquellos que organizamos en el pasado. Esta vez usaremos una nueva marca, demostración también de la renovación. ¿A dónde puede llevar esta época? Quién sabe. Al menos vamos a recuperar un congreso anual donde el encuentro es el puro compartir experiencias técnicas entre iguales sin la distorsión comercial que precisan necesariamente otros encuentros. Pues bien, este nuevo encuentro es el congreso esLibre y va a tener lugar en la maravillosa ciudad de Granada el próximo día 21 de junio. Sé que te aviso con poca antelación pero sólo se me ha ocurrido la idea a última hora. Euro Elections and fsfe

Hi Hopefully this is not seen as off topic. Now the Euro Elections are over and I am guessing within the next couple of days we should be getting information on how we can contact our respective representatives https://www.european-elections.eu/ I think it is a great opportunity to get in touch and help push what we would like from them. Perhaps we can gather a few ideas here, links etc, get sometemplates for e-mails so we can get in touch and hopefully put on a united front. It seems the UK voted quite substantially in favour of the Euro copyright directive, however these MEPs are now out. The Brexit Party MEPs are in, so perhaps we can, over the next few months, start to ask them to help make a difference, as they are against the EU laws, however there may be one or two laws that would work in our favour. lets push Public Money , Public code. These MEPs are in for 5 years, However I am guessing If the UK should hold and vote in yet another referendum there is a chance the previous referendum result will be reversed, this won't stop the Brexit MEPs staying for their full term. So 5 years of euro sceptic MEPs something that we can surely take advantage of. German cabaret artist Prayon donates prize money to FSFE

Dear all, A few days ago, Christine Prayon, German political satirist, was awarded a prize by the city of Munich. She donated the prize money to the FSFE because of our engagement for a Free Software strategy in the city.
